Discussion of Colbert Infrared Services, Inc.’s Capabilities

Fred Colbert has created an organization capable of delivering the most reliable information to our clients. Based on many of the principles of “Lean Thinking” developed by Toyota Motor Company, the elements of this delivery system are as follows:

Our People - Management:

Colbert Infrared Services, Inc. has intentionally searched for seasoned management to run the business professionally. We also employ high caliber external professionals that guide us in reinvestment strategies and financial management to ensure the long-term strength of the company.

Our People – Technical Staff:

Our ASNT (American Society of Nondestructive Testing) and Professional Thermographers Association (PTA) certified thermographers are trained using leading-edge technology. We utilize a continuous quality improvement program where their thermographic work is assessed frequently. We provide opportunities for “round table” discussions amongst the staff to discuss their field work and share lessons learned. The technicians have access to senior staff at all times should they find a unique field situation that requires consultation.

Our People – Back Office:

Our office is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Pacific Time. We always have someone on-call to answer urgent matters after hours. Our invoicing and report distribution is done in-house, so we can immediately respond to our client’s questions about administrative matters.

Our Training – Certification of Thermographers:

PTA Logo

ASNT and NFPAAll of our Thermographers are trained to the highest standards in the industry, and strictly adhere to the Industry guidelines put forth by ASNT, NFPA, and the Professional Thermographers Association.

Additionally extensive training is provided by the IR camera manufacturers, as well as ongoing “online” courses that are provided by the Professional Thermographers Association. All of our thermographers’ test scores/grades are traceable and can be easily provided upon request.

Our Technology – Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP):

Sales Logix

Colbert Infrared Services, Inc. utilizes SalesLogix from SAGE software that has been customized to keep track of our clients by account, contact, site, and inspection. This type of ERP system is an essential management tool for the day to day operations of large corporate accounts. Among the customization which we have had built in to the program are devices to help us with the scheduling of inspections and logistic planning of inspections.

One tool our large clients have found especially helpful is an advanced Client Relationship Management (CRM) system for task tracking which helps us remind our clients when an inspection is due or when estimates might be needed for their next budget cycle(s). Sites can be easily grouped by location or brand.

The ERP database is linked to Microsoft Outlook so we can easily communicate by email from within SalesLogix. All correspondence documents and communications with our clients are stored in the database centrally, so all personnel have immediate access to every client’s history.

Our Technology - Computers:

Colbert Infrared Services, Inc. houses our own secure computer server for our web site, our email system, and our remote network. Our contracted “help desk” is Pacific Northwest Software. Our technicians are each assigned their own pocket PC and Dell laptop computers.

Our Technology – Communications:

Colbert Infrared Services, Inc. has invested extensively in using VOIP (voice over internet protocol) telephones, which allow our East and West Coast offices, as well as all of our technical staff to be virtually co-resident no matter where in the world they actually are. Remote offices, as well as traveling employees are all networked together through our Seattle server using secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections. In addition, every staff member has a company provided cell phone.

Our Database - Thermal Trend™- Lean DB

Thermal Trend

This data management software solution that automates field data collection and retrieval is at the heart of our success. Thermal Trend - Lean was designed to respond to the critical needs of the U.S Navy.

Thermal Trend – Lean DB is a combination of a server based database repository of our clients’ facilities that is synchronized to our technician’s notebook computers. They are then synchronized to Pocket PC’s that are used in the field at the time of the inspection.

Routes of locations and equipment are associated with bar code labels for the automatic retrieval of each piece of equipment’s past inspection history. This design makes it impossible for a thermographer to overlook any outstanding problems and provides for 100% accountability from one inspection to the next, regardless of a change in thermographer. Inspection results are then synchronized back from the field to both the technician’s notebook computer and the company server.

Our Reports - Thermal Trend Reports

Thermal Trend – Lean uses an XML report engine that provides advanced reporting capabilities for both hard copy print-outs as well as for integration into our web-based customer interface Thermal Tend – Live. Since the data actually stored inside of a SQL database, it is easy to run multiple queries against the data to produce valuable reports such as:

Thermal Trend• Executive summaries

• Historical Test Status Matrix

• Infrared Documentation pages

• Before vs. After repair

• Problem Tending

• Prioritized List of Problems

• Cost Benefit Analysis • Inventory test status

• Problem status ageing reports
